Nostalgia for the light
In Chile, at an altitude of three thousand metres, astronomers from around the world gather in the Atacama desert to observe the stars. The sky is so clear that they can see to the ends of the universe. It’s also a place where the arid soil keeps human remains intact; those of mummies, explorers and miners. And also the remains of political prisoners of a dictatorship. While astronomers examine the most distant galaxies in search of extra-terrestrial life, at the foot of the observatories, women shift earth and stones in search of their missing loved ones.

Even the rain
Sebastian – a young passionate director – and his producer arrive in the sumptuous surroundings of the Bolivian mountains to begin shooting a film. Production budgets are tight and Costa, the producer, is pleased to employ local actors and extras at the lowest possible price. But before long the shooting is interrupted by a revolt led by one of the main extras against those in power who wish to privatise the access to running water. Costa and Sebastian are unwillingly caught up in this struggle for the survival of a helpless population. They will have to choose between supporting the cause of the people and the pursuit of their own business on which they have staked everything. This struggle for justice will completely change their lives.

NO
After 15 years of dictatorship, according to the 1980 Constitution, and when the mandate of eight years of Augusto Pinochet was ending, a plebiscite had to propose the general for a new term at the head of the country or open a new age calling for a democratic parliamentary elections and the republic presidency.
From October 5th to December 5th, the day when the Chileans went to vote for the first time since the coup of 1973, the political opposition to the regime had the opportunity to express themselves through television. In a time slot starting from 23:00 in the evenings a fifteen minutes spot for the YES and NO campaign emitted. The film NO is an approach to that time slot, focusing on the development of the NO campaign, whose triumph was endorsed in the plebiscite.
